I. Spatial Planning: Balancing Open Flow and Private Serenity

The overall layout follows the principle of “ open interaction in public areas and quiet independence in private spaces, ” with custom cabinetry systems used to achieve precise

functional zoning throughout the home.

1. Kitchen & Social Space: A Lifestyle Stage Centered Around the Island

The kitchen adopts a dual-layout concept combining a U-shaped workspace with an independent island. The main working area extends along two walls, integrating tall cabinetry, built-in appliance units, and layered storage systems to ensure highly efficient cooking circulation. The central island functions simultaneously as a prep station, casual dining area, and social hub, complemented by bar stools that create an informal gathering atmosphere.

Design Highlights

• Integrated Refrigerator Cabinetry

The double-door refrigerator is seamlessly embedded into custom tall cabinetry, with matching wood-finish panels concealing the appliance and maintaining a clean, uninterrupted elevation.

• Open Shelving System

Floating shelves above the cooktop soften the visual heaviness of traditional upper cabinets while allowing easy access to frequently used condiments and tableware.

• Dual-Material Island Countertop

The main work surface uses durable quartz stone, while the extended outer section features warm wood finishes, creating a dialogue between functionality and social interaction through material contrast.

2. Master Suite: Creating Ritual Through a Walk-in Wardrobe

The master bedroom features an L-shaped walk-in wardrobe separated from the sleeping area by sliding glass doors, creating a soft visual division. The interior adopts a three-part configuration of hanging areas, drawer storage, and display shelving. Glass-front cabinets showcase bags and accessories, while wood-finish cabinetry conceals seasonal clothing and bedding, balancing display and storage functionality.

The guest bedroom incorporates a fully enclosed hinged-door wardrobe with an open middle section fitted with hanging rails and drawers, combining display and storage needs. Warm grey door panels paired with natural wood cabinetry create a welcoming atmosphere, while the overall minimalist white palette and handleless groove-opening design contribute to a clean andrefined façade.

Design Highlights

• Floating Hanging System

Selected areas utilize a suspended upper structure with a floating base design, enhanced by integrated lighting to create a light and elegant display atmosphere.

• Embedded Open Niches

Open hanging sections positioned at the center of the cabinetry provide convenient temporary storage for worn clothing, avoiding visual clutter often created by garments draped over chairs.

II. Material Application: The Restrained Aesthetics of Warm Wood and White

The material palette follows the philosophy of “less is more,” using warm wood veneers and pure white tones as the primary foundation. Through the layering of textures and finishes, the project achieves a rich yet harmonious spatial atmosphere.

Material & Craftsmanship Details

• Wood Veneer Selection

German-imported veneer materials were selected for their delicate and natural grain patterns. Finished with premium ICA coatings, the semi-open lacquer treatment preserves the tactile authenticity of wood while offering excellent scratch resistance and moisture protection.

• White Surface Finishes

White cabinet fronts in the kitchen and bedrooms feature imported PET finishes with an ultra-smooth, skin-like texture. The surfaces are fingerprint-resistant and easy to maintain, while reflecting soft natural light under Melbourne’s abundant daylight conditions.

• Countertop Standards

Kitchen and bathroom countertops are finished in white sintered stone or quartz, offering heat resistance, anti-permeability performance, and zero formaldehyde emissions in compliance with Australia’s stringent environmental standards.

III. Craftsmanship Details: Invisible Aesthetics at Millimeter Precision

As a reflection of high-end custom furnishing expertise, the project incorporates several advanced technical solutions.

1. German Precision Edge-Banding System

All cabinetry edges utilize imported German PUR edge-banding technology, ensuring perfectly matched colors and textures between edge strips and panels to create visually “ invisible boundaries.” At critical junctions such as kitchen tall cabinets and island corners, 45-degreeangled edge treatments eliminate exposed glue lines commonly found in traditional right-angle finishes.

2. Integrated Monochromatic Hardware Design

All visible hardware — including kitchen handles, wardrobe finger pulls, and concealed drawer handles — was custom-molded to perfectly match the cabinetry finish. This “de-hardware” approach creates the visual purity of integrated millwork and is essential to achieving a true minimalist aesthetic.

3. Hole-Free Connection Technology

The cabinetry structure adopts a concealed connection system utilizing 10mm precision drilling and hole-free craftsmanship. All connectors are hidden within the panel structure, leaving no visible screw holes or assembly traces from the exterior. This technique is especially important in glass display cabinets, where illuminated interiors demand flawless detailing.

4. Moisture-Resistant Bathroom Cabinetry System

To adapt to Melbourne ’ s humid coastal climate, bathroom cabinetry incorporates dual moisture-protection measures in both material and structural design:

• Base panels are treated with a 50:50 ultra-resin impregnation process, achieving 5H hardness with outstanding moisture resistance and anti-deformation performance

• Seamless countertop-to-cabinet connections prevent water vapor penetration

• Floating vanity structures elevated 150mm above the floor minimize direct contact with standing water.

From on-site measurements and design planning to manufacturing, international logistics, and overseas installation, the project strictly followed Baodao Home’s six-step delivery standard, ensuring refined process management throughout every stage. Supported by professional design expertise, rigorous quality control, and an international delivery system, the Melbourne custom home project was completed to a high standard with a final result closely aligned with the original design vision.

Through the restrained dialogue between warm wood and white surfaces, millimeter-level craftsmanship, and carefully considered functional spaces — from the kitchen island to the laundry area — Baodao Home brings its“Unlimited Living”philosophy to life, creating an ideal residence that balances international aesthetics with practical Australian living.
